About Snowflake Software
Founded in 2001, Snowflake has been instrumental in the GIS industry by helping drive the adoption of open standards. Acknowledged as experts in the field of GML/XML, Snowflake’s business components include Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) Products, Consultancy and Training.
In 2002 Snowflake released its GML Loading Tool, GO Loader. GO Loader’s generic capabilities and enterprise pedigree soon made it the market leading GML loading tool proven with OS MasterMap, IMRO2006, TOP10NL and AAA-NAS. Snowflake has also been actively working with other GML/XML schemas/applications such as GeoSciML, CityGML, IMBOD, IMKICH, IMGeo, IMWA and IMWE.
Launched in 2005, Snowflake’s GML Translation and Publishing Tool, GO Publisher, enables organisations to publish their data to XML and GML within an enterprise environment. GO Publisher is recognised as one of the most advanced GML publishing tools on the market and is being implemented in two of the three INSPIRE reference implementations: RISE (QinetiQ) and ORCHESTRA (Joint Research Council).
Recognised as geospatial modelling experts, Snowflake’s GML Consultancy Services have been utilised in numerous business critical environments from building multi-million row spatial databases (‘3’ mobile phone network), to architecting XML schema (Ordnance Survey Northern Ireland) and designing geospatial data models (Ordnance Survey UK).
In 2006 Snowflake’s training services began offering GML Training Courses in the UK and the Netherlands (through its training partner Grontmij). To date Snowflake has held 8 courses in the Netherlands and several in the UK including bespoke GML training for organisations such as Ordnance Survey and the UK Hydrographic Office
Snowflake works closely with government clients - such as the European Commission (JRC), DEFRA and Ordnance Survey - and corporate clients - such as IBM, AtosOrigin, Accenture, British Telecom and QinetiQ. Its solutions are proven by the most demanding multi-million row databases, supporting commercial and e-Government initiatives.
